The site is located between Manarola and Riomaggiore in an area called Beccara. It is on the Corniolo hill and may be reached through the rough paths leading up to the Via dell’amore [Way of Love].

About the Artist/Site

The hermitage consists of two small caves dug out by the religious man Andrea Fresco in the 1910s and 1920s. He carved seats, niches, and a devotional prayer station, as well as a crucifix and a snake, directly into the rock. The works have been discretely preserved.
