Danilo Mazzuoli
About the Artist/Site
The tinkerer and farmer Mazzuoli occupied a little grotto next to a vegetable garden, visible from the incline that leads to the castle of Sarteano and located under this impressive fortress. He then decorated the rocks on this incline by installing wheels as well as figures of animals and humans, most of these latter purchased garden figures or pre-cast busts. Most of the installed objects were painted in vivid colors.
Following Mazzuoli’s death, most of the works were dismantled or removed, and the site can no longer be considered extant.
