About the Artist/Site
Dinora and Bebo were born in the coastal town of Caibarién, and moved to Cuba’s capital of Havana for most of their adult years. As they aged, however, they exchanged their apartment in the noisy and busy city center to return to the more tranquil environs of the coast, where they moved into an old wooden single-family home near the sea. Scavenging detritus from the shores of the sea and from older buildings that had crumbled in the village, they have created a sort of garden of nostalgia; visiting the site is like entering a space where time hasn’t passed. In addition to hosting tourists and friends who want to see their home and garden, they also organize poetry readings and other small cultural activities on site.
