About the Artist/Site

Dennis Sullivan, a self-taught chainsaw sculptor has been carving in the “folk art style” for over twenty years; his wife, Frances, began carving as well approximately fifteen years ago. Their self-described “big break” came when their dog carvings were featured on QVC television; they create over sixty different breeds and poses of dogs, and often will create unique carvings based on their client’s photos of their dogs.

Dog Bark Park is home to Toby, a twelve-foot-high statue of a beagle, and Sweet Willy, an actual Inn where people can spend the night, built in the “tradition” of roadside attractions that featured larger-than-life figures, animals, or objects. This two-room bed and breakfast opened in August 2003. On the interior, twenty-six carved dogs enhance the bed’s headboard, there is a loft room in the shape of a dog’s head, and dog-shaped cookies are enjoyed by guests. Carvings and souvenirs of Dog Bark Park are available on site or though the Park’s internet site.

The site is open year-round.
