Noah ’s Ark Gardens
About the Artist/Site
“Experience the joy of life after the great flood!” is the theme for this Hong Kong theme park. In addition to a “full-scale” replica of Noah’s Ark, the park features Aventureland, an Ark Expo, the Ark Life Education House, a Treasure House, a Solar Tower, gardens, dining, shopping, and more.
The Ark is set within a garden with a waterfall, pond, and elaborate landscaping. Sixty-seven pairs of life-sized animal sculptures emerge from the Ark, and a special downloadable “Animal App” teaches interesting facts about these animals. In general, the aim of Ma Wan Park, within which the Ark is located, is to “foster family values and teach love, social harmony and care for the environment.”
The Park and Gardens are operated by a consortium that includes Angela Luk’s Education Foundation (children’s development and parenting), St. James’ Settlement (social services to help people develop skills to help themselves), the Boys’ Brigade of Hong Kong (youth leadership and training programs), and the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council (social welfare from newborns to senior citizens).
The Gardens are available for rental for special events, weddings, corporate trainings, and more. They are open to the public 10 am to 6 pm daily; the last entry is at 5:45 pm.
