About the Artist/Site
Lost Acres Ranch, sometimes referred to as Richard Brown’s Concrete Yard Art, is a miniature 19th century town crafted from rebar and cement, old homes, and scrapped supplies. Built by Richard Brown in the 1990s, these statues sit on the northeast edge of Hutchinson, Kansas on the corner of Hwy 61 and 43rd Ave. Men tending to crops sit along covered wagons, wild bison, Native Americans hunting on horseback and wild animals preying nearby.
Brown died in 2004 and since then his property has become overrun with vegetation – blocking the view of some sculptures during part of the year. This site is not open for the public to walk through, but it is visible from the street when driving by.
