Meta Dobson's House
About the Artist/Site
Meta Dobson grew up on a farm in Germany prior to immigrating to the United States and settling in Tucson, Arizona. During her youth, a teacher at Dobson’s high school urged her to study art, but given her parents’ modest farming incomes, the family did not consider it viable for Meta to pursue art school at the university level. Upon moving to Tucson, Dobson began creating mosaic artworks and found object installations in her yard. Amidst rocks and desert foliage, Dobson installed pipes, vessels, tires, shovels, and toys into plantlike arrangements and along walking paths, occasionally painting the objects with vibrant designs.
