My art environment journey began as a teenager when I first visited the Watts Towers, and ever since then, I have been captivated by the alchemical magic that happens when refuse can be transformed into treasure and beauty emerges from unpredictable sources. It was a fortunate coincidence that SPACES Archives happened to be located in the area where I was living, and I began collaborating with the project. Although I attended a formal art school for a time, the experience mostly reminded me of the power of art brut, spaces where raw feelings, boundless expression, dreams and nightmares continue to both provoke and delight. It is currently working as a social worker where I have the benefit of discovering the hidden talent existing on the margins and these visionary inner landscapes that are so vital and life affirming for many.
